BEIJING: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday met Chinese President Xi Jinping with a focus on enhancing multilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The meeting took place in China’s Great Hall of the People during which the two leaders discussed broad-based cooperation in economy and investment.

Before leaving for Beijing on November 1, the prime minister said he was “honored to be among the first few leaders to be invited after the historic 20th National Congress of the CPC”.

He said that at a time when the world is facing many challenges, Pakistan and China stand together as friends and partners.
A day before the visit, China warmly welcomed the Prime Minister’s visit and said it looked forward to further advancing the high-level strategic cooperation between the two countries and bringing more fruitful results of Pakistan-China friendship for the benefit of both peoples. Is.
