Renowned businesswoman and TV personality Sara Benny knows the power of perseverance and positivity, and she’s sharing that perspective with fans in her latest interview during her battle with cancer.
Talking to Weekend Magazine, Stairs to the property The star shared that she shaved off her blonde locks to challenge the stereotype that people diagnosed with cancer are ‘sufferable’.
Sarah revealed that she shaved her head with dog clippers after being diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
The presenter admitted that she lost most of her hair within 24 hours of starting chemotherapy in September.
Having lost her mother to the disease at the age of ten, Sarah said she was devastated when she was diagnosed.
The 50-year-old explained that she didn’t want to seem like she was being “punished”.
“Hairlessness is often associated with anger,” he added.
“You’re a victim or it’s a punishment, like Fantine in Les Miserables, or Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones.
“People are ashamed of their bald heads.”
She continued: “The more I talk to people in this boat, the word I keep hearing is ‘shame.’
“And I thought: Why? If you’ve got breast cancer and you’re going through treatment, the fact that you don’t have hair is nothing to be ashamed of.”
