One of the most wanted features of all time is finally coming to WhatsApp. Through the Google Play beta program, WhatsApp is rolling out a new update that brings the version number up to 2.22.22.14. With the new update, WhatsApp users on Android will be able to change text messages.
WhatsApp is basically working on adding a label in the chat bubble if the message has been modified.
With this feature, users will be able to correct typos in their messages after they are sent. The feature is still being worked on, but those in the beta test will be able to use it. WABetaInfo found out how messages in a conversation are marked as edits.
As you can see in this screenshot, when a message is changed, the word “Edited” will appear next to it. Also, you have exactly 15 minutes to change the message in WhatsApp. Like when everyone deletes a message.
At this point, it is not clear whether the recipient will see the modified message first or the original message if he does not turn on his device within the specified time.
Unfortunately this feature is not ready yet.
We don’t know when it will come out. If testing goes well, we may be able to roll out this feature by the end of this year. If you are one of the people getting this feature, please let us know about it in the section below.
