LAHORE: PTI Chairman Imran Khan has denied the rumors that he has returned to Lahore from the long march to negotiate with the federal government.
In a tweet, Imran Khan responded to those spreading rumors regarding any meeting in Lahore. He said that the reason for his return was that Lahore was near and he had decided to proceed at night.
He said that the only demand for the last six months is to provide a date for early free and fair elections. He further said that if talks are to be held, this will be the only demand.
Earlier there were reports that Imran Khan returned to Lahore from the long march to negotiate with the committee formed by the federal government.
The second day of the long march ended at Rachna town near Ferozwala. The march was supposed to end at Kamoki but proceeded at a slow pace due to the large crowds that had gathered in the convoy and on the route.
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry announced that tomorrow (Sunday) the march will resume from Muridke at 11 am. Addressing the participants in Ferozwala, Imran Khan took an oath from his supporters to uphold the constitution in the freedom struggle.
After some time, Imran Khan returned to his residence in Zaman Park, Lahore. A heavy contingent of police has been deployed at his residence to provide security.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formed a federal level committee for negotiations with PTI in the light of the party’s ongoing true freedom march.
The committee is headed by Home Minister Rana Sanaullah and has nine members, which will focus on maintaining the law and order situation and holding talks on PTI’s long march.
The prime minister has directed that all discussions related to the long march will be done through the committee. He said that the doors of negotiations are always open but will not allow anyone to take the law into their hands.
The committee includes PML-N leaders Ayaz Sadiq, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Maryam Aurangzeb, Pakistan Peoples Party leader Qamar Zaman Kaira, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Awami National Party Mian Iftikhar and Jamiat Ulema Islam (F) leaders. are Leader Maulana Asad Mehmood
