Kinshasa: A bridge built to cross a river during heavy rains in the African state of Democratic Republic of Congo collapsed after the chief guest cut a ribbon at the opening ceremony.
According to the international news organization, a video is going viral on social media in Congo, in which it can be seen that the special guests were standing on the bridge and cutting the ribbon of the inauguration and during that time the bridge collapsed.
When the bridge collapsed, the chief guest and a woman officer were also present on it, who panicked and pleaded for help. The photographers and security personnel present there saved the officers standing on the bridge.
This bridge was previously replaced by a wooden bridge that broke every rain and it was difficult for local residents to cross the river, so an iron bridge was built instead of a wooden one.
While sharing the video, a Congolese journalist wrote that this would happen if substandard materials were used in the construction of the bridge. This is very insulting.
After the video went viral on social media, users made funny comments. One user wrote that it looks like the rope is holding the bridge, as soon as the rope was cut, the bridge fell down.
