Thousands of people in flood-ravaged districts of Sindh and Balochistan will soon have access to clean drinking water thanks to a partnership between PTCL and Ufone 4G and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS).
The people will be safe from a variety of waterborne illnesses thanks to this program, which will ensure that wells and subterranean reservoirs are not affected by the recent rains.
Families in the Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Jaffarabad districts of Sindh and Balochistan will get access to 72,000 gallons of clean water per day, courtesy of PTCL and PRCS, to reduce potentially fatal health risks.
“The flood-affected populations of Sindh & Balochistan are hard pressed for safe drinking water after the stagnant flood water has polluted their water supplies,” stated Hatem Bamatraf, President & Group CEO, PTCL & Ufone, in response to the donation.
“Water is the most fundamental requirement of any living creature, and we hope to supply it to tens of thousands of people in Pakistan through the Pakistan Red Crescent Society. “As a Pakistani business, we are here for our fellow citizens in their time of need,” he continued.
Chair of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari remarked, “We are happy to join hands with PTCL Group to offer safe and clean drinking water to the flood-affected people of Sindh and Balochistan.”
It is a basic human right to have access to clean water and sanitary facilities, as stated in the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights. So many individuals have lost this fundamental freedom as a result of the recent floods. He further noted, “But during these terrible times, we shall continue to help the people devastated by floods.
This is a part of PTCL Group’s recent promise of Rs. 1.75 billion for the relief and restoration of flood-affected areas around Pakistan.
PTCL Group donated money earlier to help flood victims in Balochistan have access to food, and smaller efforts are set to pop up in the following weeks.
