The MOL Group, along with Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL), and Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL), drilled the Tolanj West-02 development well in the Tal Block in the Kohat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and made a gas/condensate discovery in the Lockhart formation.
According to the stock filing, OGDL is one of the joint venture partners with a 30% working interest in the Tal Block, which is operated by the Hungarian Oil and Gas Public Limited Company, commonly known as MOL Group.
On April 10, 2022, work began on a new well to produce hydrocarbon from the Lumshiwal Formation at Tolanj West D&PL and to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of the Lockhart, Shinawari, and Samanasuk Formations (as exploratory targets). The well was drilled to a total vertical depth (TVD) of 4119.34 meters.
The Lockhart Formation (Exploratory Target) was successfully tested at a rate of 8.3 MMCFD gas and 34 BPD of condensate at a 32/64 inch choke size with a Wellhead Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 1,285 psi, according to the interpretation findings of wireline logs data.
The fresh find has reduced the danger of continuing exploration in the TAL Block, opening up promising new prospects. The country’s ability to produce energy from domestic sources will be strengthened by this revelation as well.
