The federal government has announced today that Imran Abbasy will be leading Pakistan Petroleum Limited as its new managing director and chief executive officer (PPL).
Abbasy has been appointed on a contract basis for three years, following the formal notification of his appointment received by Propakistani.
He served as the CEO of Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd. during the PML-previous N’s rule (OGDCL). However, he did not become a member. He also has experience working for a U.S. oil and gas firm (US).
Since March 2018, PPL has been operating without a permanent managing director/chief executive officer. After then, PPL was handled on an as-needed basis.
After much debate, the committee appointed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in July submitted a list of two candidates, namely Imran Abbasy and Moin Raza Khan, for the role of MD PPL.
