In Karachi and Hyderabad, 20 lakh children in the age group of 5 to 11 years have been vaccinated during a 6-day special immunization campaign to protect against corona virus.
The Sindh Health Department had announced the launch of a 6-day vaccination campaign for children aged 5 to 11 in Karachi and Hyderabad from September 19 to September 24.
Sindh Health Department has extended the campaign till 26 September to achieve the target, the campaign will run till Monday.
According to the report, 4,554 teams of 3 people took part in the corona vaccination campaign, which includes 3,987 outreach teams, 536 fixed centers and 3 mobile teams.
According to the Sindh Health Department, during the campaign, a target has been set to vaccinate 34 lakh 13 thousand 884 children aged 5 to 11 years, who will be given the first dose of Pfizer’s corona virus vaccine, but for 70, 2.4 lakh children will be given the target. % vaccination will be ensured.
According to Dr. Irshad Ahmed Memon, Project Director, EPI, more than 20 lakh children in the age group of 5 to 11 years were vaccinated in schools till Saturday during the six-day campaign that started from September 19. The children were given Pfizer. Vaccination.
He said one more day has been added to the campaign to achieve the target and avoid wastage of the remaining vaccine and the campaign will continue on Monday in seven districts of Karachi and Hyderabad.
Significantly, 64 children in the age group of 5 to 11 years have died due to corona virus in Karachi and Hyderabad from March 2020 to August 2022. This mortality rate is 0.7 percent. 62 children under the age of 5 died in the south, so far 11 years have died in the city, the death toll in Hyderabad is 2.
In both the divisions of Sindh, so far 9 thousand 140 children aged 5 to 11 years have been caught by the corona virus, thus the rate of positive cases is 10 percent.
