When it comes to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Bank of Punjab (BOP) is at the forefront, having initiated a wide variety of projects that benefit the public good.
Asiamoney, a respected international organization, has named BOP the “Best Bank for CSR in Pakistan” for 2022 as recognition of BOP’s achievements in this area.
Devastating rains and flash floods have swamped large swaths of Pakistan in recent weeks. Once again, BOP is leading the charge in flood relief efforts.
The Bank has donated Rupees 10 million to the Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund and has been actively collecting relief funds by opening the maximum number of channels for customers. These channels include branches, ATMs, Mobile App & Internet Banking, Raast, local and international credit cards, foreign inward remittances through banking channels/exchange companies, and Roshan Samaaji Khidmat (RDA).
Over Rs. 2 billion has been raised so far through BOP’s daily SMS campaigns for the cause of collecting donations in the CM Punjab, Baluchistan, and the Prime Minister’s flood relief accounts.
While BOP is working hard to raise money for flood relief in Pakistan, the organization feels that no amount of money on its own will be enough to assist the nation recover from the devastation it has suffered; instead, every Pakistani must pitch in to aid the victims of the recent floods.
Accordingly, BOP Madadgar, a volunteer program for employees, was launched to provide BOP workers with a means to contribute to the betterment of their community and the world at large.
Staff members who sign up for BOP Madadgar will be given paid time off and all the resources they need to participate in voluntary CSR projects.
As the first step, BOP employees in flood-stricken districts of South Punjab and Sindh will receive the knowledge and resources they need to build basic, long-term shelters from sustainable materials.
Over 260 BOP employees, ranging from couriers to EVP level executives, with 11% female, have joined up for BOP Madadgar on its first day of availability.
Additionally, BOP will be the first financial institution to offer a postponement of Principal and Markup on Agri loans for up to 12 months in locations where a natural disaster has been declared by the government.
Farmers (BOP customers) who are interested in this service need just make a written request to their local BOP locations. There won’t be any kind of criterion set for little or large loan amounts to qualify for this plan.
These actions are more steps toward achieving BOP’s overarching goal of “#HarFardKaKhayal.” The Bank will keep introducing new programs to improve the country as a whole.
