Mosquitoes made life difficult for citizens, 3 more people died of malaria and dengue in Sindh, a woman died of dengue in Karachi and 2 people died of malaria in Sukkur
The death toll from dengue has risen to 34 in Karachi and Hyderabad and over 181,000 cases of malaria have been reported across Sindh.
According to the National Malaria Control Program, malaria cases have increased 10 times in Sindh, the federal level has not yet received NOC to buy mosquito nets from India.
According to the Sindh Health Department, during the last 24 hours a woman suffering from dengue fever died in a private hospital in central district Karachi, taking the death toll due to dengue virus in Karachi to 33.
According to the report of Sindh Health Department, 254 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, after which 5 thousand 245 cases have been reported in the month of September in Karachi alone and 6 thousand 216 cases in a year.
In the month of September 7 thousand 452 cases of dengue virus have been reported in whole Sindh and 8 thousand 785 cases have been reported in whole year, one death due to dengue virus in Hyderabad.
According to the report, malaria cases have increased manifold compared to last year, this year the number of malaria cases has reached 181 thousand 671.
According to the Sindh Health Department, 4 thousand 583 more cases have been reported in Sindh during the last 24 hours, while in Sukkur two people suffering from malarial fever died, both were admitted to Ghulam Mohammad Mehr Medical College Hospital.
According to Dr. Hamad Habib, Adviser to the National Malaria Control Programme, malaria cases are 10 times higher in Sindh, with many areas still having water which is the breeding ground for mosquitoes.
He said that till August the number of malaria cases across the country was 177,000, but in September the number of malaria cases has increased manifold.
Dr. Hamad Habib says that by October 1, more medicines from UNICEF will reach Pakistan, 50 percent of the medicines will be sent to Sindh because the situation in Sindh is very bad.
He said that Global Fund buys mosquito nets, they buy mosquito nets from their suppliers in different countries of the world. If the Pakistan government doesn’t mind, they can provide mosquito nets.
Dr. Hamad Habib further said that the Global Fund was assured to provide mosquito nets by the Chinese supplier in March next year, but no decision has been taken in this regard yet. No NOC has been provided at the moment.
