Harrisburg: A court in the US state of Pennsylvania has ordered two former judges, Michael Konahan and Mark Civarella, to pay a $200 million fine for taking bribes.
According to the American Broadcasting Agency, two former judges in the state of Pennsylvania were charged with taking huge bribes in the ‘Kids for Cash’ case, in which the accused were found to have taken bribes of $ 2.8 million.
It was established in the court that these sums were received by both the judges as a bribe in return for sending the children to children’s prisons for extortionate benefits. These judges gave severe punishment to children below 8 years of age.
Judges Michael Konahan and Mark Civarella were both sacked and sentenced after the court scandal broke out, but now the court has ordered both judges to pay $20 million in fines to hundreds of victims.
