QAU’s Pukhtoon Students Council (PSC) has staged a peaceful demonstration to protest against the systemic discrimination and racial profiling that Pukhtoon students face.
QAU administration has refused to reinstate 35 Pukhtoon students expelled for disciplinary reasons, prompting a protest. These pupils were also fined heavily and barred from pursuing further education.
According to a PSC official, all Pakistani people have the right to an education. However, the QAU administration has refused to reinstate the 35 students who were expelled despite exploiting a legal loophole to lessen the severity of the sentence.
Students from the Pukhtoon ethnic group are subjected to systemic prejudice and racial profiling.
A representative for the PSC stated that the problem had been mentioned to QAU’s management multiple times before. But on the other hand, the government took no action to solve the problem. Consequently, the PSC has been obligated to take action.
When it comes to ending systemic discrimination and racial profiling, the university’s management must return the expelled students as soon as possible while also taking rigorous steps. According to a statement from the Public Service Commission (PSC), there will be no end in sight to nonviolent protests.
