Pakistan thrashed Indonesia 13-0 at the Hockey Asia Cup, which is now underway. Consequently, the Green and Whites surpassed India and Japan to take first place in Group A.
It was Ijaz Ahmed’s early goal that set the tone for the Green Shirts, who went on to win the match 2-0. In the first quarter, Pakistan jumped out to a 5-0 lead before adding four more in the second. It was all over for them when they scored four more goals before the final whistle sounded.
Both Ijaz Ahmed and Rana Waheed had two goals apiece while Rizwan Ali, Abdul Mannan, and Rizwan’s brother Rizwan had a single goal each.
On the 26th of May, Pakistan will play their last tournament group game against Japan. The following matchup in Group A will pit Japan against India.
Second place in the group is at stake for Japan and India in this matchup if the latter wins.
