Pakistan’s lowest-paid police department, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), has treated Punjab, which pays the most, badly for a long time.
ICT Police would get a ration allowance and peace and order stipend that was the same as what Punjab Police got.
We’ve been told that Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, ICT Police’s recently appointed Inspector General (IG), filed a summary with the Finance Ministry requesting that ICT Police get paid more.
Finally, the Cabinet will review and approve this summary. The cabinet is likely to approve the summary before the next budget is shown to the parliament.
Separately, the IG ICT Police has enlisted the help of 17,000 more security guards from throughout the country to beef up security in the Federal Capital.
Water cannons and armored personnel carriers have also been allowed for deployment in the Red Zone by the IG ICT Police. Several steps have been taken by the ICT Police to stop rallies and demonstrations from turning violent.
