In the present era, there is a heated debate about the Mughal Empire in the country Disney Plus Hotstar The story of Babur, the first emperor of the Mughal Empire, has brought ‘Empire’. In such a situation where on one hand there is a situation of controversy on social media regarding this show, on the other hand, viewers want to know how effective this show is. That’s why we bring you this review (Empire Review)…
We tell you that The Empire is airing on Hotstar from 27th August which is based on the book Empire Of The Moghul – Raiders From The North by Alex Rutherford. The show’s disclaimer states that it is historical fiction, which in no way reflects the views of the show’s creators, but is a period drama inspired by history. Now talking about the story, this series is the story of Babur who founded the Mughal Empire in India. The 8-episode show traces the journey of Zaheeruddin Muhammad Babar from his youth to ad**thood.
Interesting story
The series begins with the First Battle of Panipat in 1526 AD, where Babur is fighting with Ibrahim Lodi. Meanwhile, during the war, Babur recalls his journey from his childhood to his arrival in India, where he came from and where he reached. Babar remembers the day his father showed him the dream of India. Babur’s father tells him about India, a country free from Turko-Mongol-Afghan terror, where a better life is possible. From here the desire to go to India arose in Babur’s mind.
The series then follows the battle between Babur and his arch-enemy Shibani Khan. In fact, after the death of his father, the 14-year-old Babur was placed on the throne of Ferghana by his grandmother Isaan Daulat (Shabana Azmi), a throne that proved to be a thorny throne for Babur. Tribal raider Shebani Khan (Dino Maurya) has his eye on the kingdoms of Ferghana and Samarkand and invades and captures them. Along with him, he also imprisoned Babur’s grandmother, mother Katlug, and sister Khanzada.
In such a situation, Babur had to wash his hands of both Ferghana and Samarkand to free his family members. After that how does Babur wins back his kingdom and then under what circumstances does he heads to India… this is shown in the series with interesting incidents. Overall the screenplay of the show has been written in a very interesting manner by director Mutakshara Kumar and Bhavani Iyer. Now coming to the review, let’s talk about other aspects like direction and acting.
Acting and directing
If seen, Mutaksharakumar has been able to fill up the lack of an indigenous historical sequence to a great extent. Because Indian viewers till now have to deal with foreign historical series in the name of historical drama series. Talking about the acting, the actors have also done their job well. While Dino Maurya is good in the role of Shibani Khan, Kunal Kapoor also left no stone unturned in the role of Babar. Apart from them, Shabana Azmi and Dashti Dhami have also played their roles well.
