I found myself with nothing to do. And I am used to working. I like working. I love going to work. I love being with people every day and enjoying human companionship, companionship and all that. And suddenly I was deprived of it. And I’m like, “What am I going to do?” I thought.
I never had any intention of writing a book. But as I kept going and writing, I realized that it actually gave me a reason to live, and I’d go to bed thinking, “I’ll write this tomorrow…that’s going to entertain me.” And that was really a lifesaver, because I couldn’t have done it without anything to do.
I can’t pretend like there were no dark moments in the past year. But those dark moments shine the light sharply and have made me grateful for every day and immensely grateful to all my friends. I’m just happy to be alive.
