Upcoming cinematic narrative adventure game goodbye volcano High announced that the release date is June 15. It’s one of the few games to debut at the latest PlayStation State of Play event, and players won’t have to wait any longer for the standalone game to launch on PC and PlayStation consoles.
Developer KO_OP reveals interactive high school drama Goodbye Volkan High With a short trailer in June 2020. Set in a world inhabited by anthropomorphic dinosaurs, the actors take on the role of a young musician named Fang. Fang and his friends have one last chance to find love and bond, as their world faces impending destruction by an oncoming meteor.
KO_OP planned to be released earlier Goodbye Volkan High in 2021 or 2022. However, the game faced significant delays due to COVID and the workers-owned studio’s decision not to go into trouble to make up for lost time. The game will now be released for PC, PS4 and PS5 on June 15.
The independent studio made this announcement in a new trailer. Goodbye Volkan High premiered today during Sony’s live-streamed State of Play showcase. In addition to announcing the game’s upcoming release date, the trailer also offers viewers Goodbye Volkan HighIts gameplay that combines rhythm game mechanics with a more traditional visual novel. Only time will tell if this combination works in practice, but it’s certainly an interesting way to mix genres.
The latest trailer also lets viewers enjoy it more Goodbye Volkan HighIt’s the original soundtrack that would naturally be important in a title where music plays such an important role in both gameplay and narrative. Fans of actor Lachlan Watson, who played Theo Putnam in the Netflix original series Sabrina’s Creepy Adventures, will also be pleased to hear more voice work as the main character Fang. The trailer also showed off more of the hand-drawn animation of the game, which developer KO_OP compared to a playable cartoon.
Yet just because Goodbye Volkan High just because it depicts a colorfully animated world inhabited by talking dinosaurs doesn’t mean it’s a game for kids. According to KO_OP, Goodbye Volkan High touches on serious and mature themes such as death, drug and alcohol use, and s*xuality. But, Goodbye Volkan High probably will appeal to anyone who enjoys Don’t Nod’s life is strange sherry. Either way, it looks like rhythm and adventure game fans have something to look forward to.
