Geoffrey Doucet had been very close to the family for many years but during that time he began abusing Gary’s son Jody. Doucet kidnaps Jodie and takes her from Baton Rouge to California and abuses her. Louisiana police tracked Jody down and arrested Jeffrey Doucette. To get revenge on Doucet, Gary Plauch angrily hatched a plan. When Doucette was flown to Baton Rouge, Gary Plauch was waiting for him at the airport with a gun in his hand. Gary Plauch shot Doucette in the head as Doucette walked by.
Police immediately arrested Gary Plache and identified him as the father of the abused child. Initially, Gary Plauch was charged with second-degree murder but ultimately, the charge was dropped in Mansalter’s favor. He pleaded not guilty, so he was sentenced to seven years in prison, five years probation, and 300 hours of community service.
