Blue Lock episode 3 recap
Ego explains that only the top two teams will advance. However, the top scorers of the losing teams will also advance. Ego says it’s about ‘creating football from scratch’. Team Z’s first match is against Team X. Before the match, Isagi wonders what Ego meant by “creating football from scratch”. The game starts and Raichi takes the ball from Isagi before he moves. Raichi says he just cares about being the top scorer. Kunigami then steals the ball from Raichi, expressing the same sentiments. Eventually everyone starts to fight for the ball, aiming to score.
Barou takes the ball and scores a goal. His teammates praise him as Team Z continues to argue. Isagi considers switching to Bachira, but Igaguri intervenes. Team Z continues to fall apart, while Team X begins to become one team. Team X scores another goal and Isagi noticed Team X started working together because of Barou. He then remembers Ego’s words and thinks about how they can go from “zero” to “one”. Towards the end of the match, Team X has five points.
Bachira suggests a strategy to Isagi. Isagi thinks they can reach “one” if someone scores, then their teamwork might improve. Bachira passes to Isagi, but Barou blocks it. Isagi wanted to score but ends up passing to Kunigami, who then scores a goal. Raichi scolds Isagi for passing to Kunigami instead. The game ends and Team X wins. In the locker room, Isagi contemplates what he lacks as a striker. Meanwhile, Kuon explains to the team that they are already in danger.
Chigiri notes that Ego might have hinted at something with ‘creating football from scratch’. Isagi shares his thoughts and Ego appears on screen, agreeing with him. Ego gives them a clue about the transformation from “zero to one” by explaining roles in sports. He then asks what they are going to do to destroy the other team. With that, he says victory is in their hands once they figure out how to use their skills to score.
