Banks to Remain Closed on August 14

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced that it will be closed on August 14 (Monday) in observance of Independence Day.

According to a statement, all banks across the country would stay closed in accordance with the SBP.

Pakistan gained independence from India on August 14, 1947, thanks to the tireless efforts of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Muslims.

Every year, people dress their vehicles, motorcycles, automobiles, and motorbikes with the green color and Pakistani flags, while inhabitants decorate their residences, bazaars, and marketplaces with flags and lights to show their love for the nation.

The day is generally started with special prayers in mosques for the country’s success and prosperity, followed by a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals.

This year marks the 76th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence.
